Heart To Home Meals is a proud supporter of The Royal Canadian Legion.

Furthering our commitment to supporting our country’s Veterans and their families, Heart To Home Meals has donated $10,000 to The Royal Canadian Legion’s Poppy Fund, an initiative that provides vital support services to those that have served our country.

The Royal Canadian Legion is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing assistance and support to Veterans and their families across Canada. Central to the Legion's mission is its Poppy Fund. The poppy is one of the most recognized symbols of remembrance in Canada, as it serves as an instant reminder of the service and sacrifice made by Canadian Veterans. It is also an important symbol for the ongoing work of The Royal Canadian Legion. Proceeds to the Legion’s Poppy Fund go towards Veterans and their families through a wide range of services including advocacy, financial assistance, community outreach, and critical programs pertaining to issues such as homelessness, food insecurity, and the application for government benefits.

Heart To Home Meals recognizes the profound impact of the Legion’s Poppy Fund and proudly stands behind The Royal Canadian Legion in honouring our Veterans. In our support, we aim to not only raise awareness for Veteran programs, but also provide financial support for services that our country’s heroes need.

We hold a deep appreciation for our Veterans, and in acknowledging their unwavering commitment to our country, Heart To Home Meals reflects this same unwavering commitment to them. Our support of The Royal Canadian Legion, in connection with our existing Veterans’ Access to Nutrition services, exemplifies this appreciation and dedication.

Heart To Home Meals is registered with MBC to provide services associated with VIP-Access to Nutrition. As a registered provider, we may submit claims for the delivery of meals to Veterans in receipt of VIP-Access to Nutrition directly to MBC for payment. In doing so, we were able to assist in providing over 150,000 meals to Veterans in 2023 alone.

The Veterans Independence Program (VIP) Access to Nutrition service ensures that eligible Veterans have access to nutritional food when unable to prepare or access meals. Access to nutrition does not cover the cost of meals, however; it does provide a financial contribution toward the cost of meal delivery or the Veteran’s transportation to access the meal.

Veterans in receipt of VIP-Access to Nutrition may select a provider of their choice. While not a requirement, providers may register with Medavie Blue Cross (MBC) which facilitates payment for the benefit or service they provide.

VAC provides support to eligible Veterans through various programs and benefits and would not recommend a reference specifically to the War Veterans Allowance program. War Veterans Allowance (WVA) is one form of financial assistance available through Veterans Affairs Canada. Its purpose is to ensure that, in recognition of war service, qualified persons are provided with a regular monthly income to meet basic needs. We would not recommend promoting use of this income source for one purpose over another.

We at Heart To Home Meals honour our Veterans and their families. Through our support of The Royal Canadian Legion’s Poppy Fund and Veterans Independence Program – Access to Nutrition, we aim to express our gratitude to our country’s heroes and the organizations that serve them in any way that we can.
